————————– UPDATE: 10 February 2012 Width 600px and height 1024px is the best image size that fit the screen without cropping. Unfortunatly now that Amazon has released Update Version 6.3, it has partially broken your excelent app. It still works fine if you are letting it work in random mode (or what ever you refer to it as when you just point it at “Wallpaper Folder”).
However, if you select “Single Image” it will not lock the picture in, it will not ask to crop or full screen anymore, it just takes you back to the settings screen after you select the picture, and it doesn’t set it. Looking forward to a fix. Posted by Eric. GHARP, take a breath, this is normal. Amazon doesn’t want it to work so with every update they throw a monkey wrench at us.
There will be a fix or another wallpaper changer software that will come down the pike, they just need time Very typical of how things work THE REAL PROBLEM is Amazon, they want us to back their product then why can’t they give us the simple ability to customize the kindle as we want. If Google comes out with a tablet at the same or lower price and they give you the freedom to customize it any way you seem fit then the Kindle will be a paper weight in a year. Hi, I just received my Kindle Fire today in the mail, and to my dismay, just like all the rest of my kindles, it has the terrible ad wallpaper on the lockscreen, so I’ve immediately looked for an alternative motive, which the Fire holds no option. Google has led me to several open-ended sites that require to root, and I consider myself a very big geek when it comes to technology such as tablets and computers. But I am also a fan of Kindle and what they stand for, thus holds me from wanting to tamper with its hardware.
And when I bought this Kindle I told myself that I didn’t get it just to have it another toy where I sit and root and mod it for countless hours, days, or even weeks only to forget about it months later. So this app seems to be my god-sent answer, because its basically the only thing out there that allows me to do this without rooting. And of course, the damn app doesn’t work. I am following everything to what I believe is correctly, even says its set. But every time I lock it only to press it again to test it, I see the same damn kids trying to sell me a laptop if I slide my screen to the left rather than the right.
Could I possibly get some help? Is this due to Amazon being the usual Nazi’s that they are towards their programming?
Or am I just full of myself and doing it wrong? Posted by Tyler.
I noticed KellyJ up there like to slap people with his OH GREAT WIZDOM so let me clarify for real readers, and noobs alike. TWO VERSIONS OF THE KINDLE FIRE EXIST; 1st Generation, and 2nd Generation.
Free Flames Clip Art
I know its a hard concept to grasp KellyJ. I’m really annoyed KellyJ likes to bash people for adding in knowledge. People like him hold the world back, because they know it all. The 2nd generation Kindle Fire is similar in build structure to the Kindle Fire HD. It is classified as the second generation by us developers, and is currently being coded.
If you follow any directions for rooting, and or customize recovery partitions for the first generation YOU WILL BRICK YOUR DEVICE! The current build of this wallpaper app will not work correctly with the 2nd generation Kindle Fire.
Kelly he was right you really should get educated before speaking so strongly. If you want to learn more about customizing, please dont follow his link directly to the Launcher, go to XDA’s forums and read the forum threads. Oh and the “keyboard edition” is non-existent. A keyboard is an accessory. Posted by TheyDoExist. Follow up to the full internet access questions: I see what the risk could be.
Your paranoia has merit, but dont fret. The reason it was asking for full internet access is the method it was using to call the wallpaper, by modifying the apk in the system folder and pointing locally through the internet protocol. That is why users saw the “sharing image” part of the process. I began to pull apart the advertisement apk tonight but lost interest. Hopefully this coder will update the app soon. Also those not wanting to root to get apps they want do the following: Download the apk on another android device; apk (application)apk is the extension of android applications Backup the application with Astro file manager Send the apk over to the Kindle Fire – (Dropbox works great for this and plugs into Astro) Install using the apk ? Posted by TheyDoExist. I have a Kindle Fire.
When I select “Single Image” it opens my “Photos” (it does not show them in the app like above) and when I select one of the photos, I get a quick pop up that says “Sharing Photo” which then goes away and then an option “Would you like to crop this image?” I select yes and I then get “Cannot find Image Crop App”. If I select NO, I do not want to crop, then I get “Done and Set”, but it does not work. I still have the same advertisements. What am I doing wrong??? Thanks for any suggestions. OK to those who say it doesn’t work. Do you have an ad free Kindle?
If the purchase price of your Kindle is partially subsidized by Ads, this might not work and it shouldn’t. The reason you paid less is because you agreed to see Ads. Trying to get around it by changing the wallpaper is going against your word. Pay the 15 bucks if you don’t want ads. Picture too small or doesn’t fill the screen? Width 600px and height 1024px is THE size it needs to be, not a suggestion.
Google: Freeware Photo re-sizing. Download and re-size the photo.
Seriously not hard. This isn’t too big a technical problem, but if you are leery or don’t understand what I wrote then DON”T DO IT or learn how to do it Your Kindle works fine without.jacking around with the wallpaper. Posted by MWRuger.
